Forestry

The Hovingham Estate has a very long tradition of forest management and the Estate’s woodlands, which have won many awards for forestry and conservation, play an important part in shaping the landscape that has been designated a National Landscape.

Our timber is harvested in a sustainable way and has a wide range of uses from furniture making to construction. We also recognise the importance of our woodlands in the special landscape of the Howardian Hills.

The Hovingham Estate woods are certified under the UK Woodland Assurance Standard (UKWAS) which recognises forests and woodlands which are managed to the highest standards.

The Estate also has a long term plan for the management of its woodlands which takes into account all aspects including a long term plan for felling and replanting.
